The road ends at this sign announcing the speedway, where numerous land speed records have been broken. Remember "The Worlds Fastest Indian"? There is nothing here, just flat salt plains. In August they bring in tents, markings etc. for Speed Week, but right now it's just us. We have to go drive!

Two miles later, out in the middle of the salt flat, we discovered the truck maxed out at 86mph on this rough surface of salt, for the records I think they must roll or flatten it in some way.

We then had to use a hose at the nearest gas station to wash all the salt from the underside of the truck before it rots away!
